Job Overview

As a Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for supporting hospitals and large physician practices by assisting patients with billing-related concerns, explaining insurance benefits and ensuring accurate documentation of all interactions. Your role is key in maintaining smooth communication between providers, payers and patients, and in upholding a high standard of service in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

This role requires strong verbal and written communication skills, a basic understanding of healthcare billing and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality while addressing sensitive patient information.

 

Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound and outbound calls from patients regarding billing, payments, and insurance
  • Review and explain Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and account balances
  • Assist with resolving account discrepancies and updating patient records
  • Coordinate with internal teams to escalate and resolve complex billing issues
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and protect patient information at all times
  • Accurately log interactions and follow-ups in CRM and billing systems
  • Support patients with payment plan options and general account navigation

 

Job Qualifications and Skills Set

  • Minimum of 6 months to 1 year of customer service experience (healthcare preferred)
  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Familiarity with insurance billing and claims processing
  • Comfortable using EMR, CRM, or RCM software
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage sensitive data securely
  • Ability to work independently while meeting daily performance metrics
