Product Development Designer

Job Overview

As a Product Development Designer, you will define product specifications, create digital and 3D CAD designs, and translate requirements into high-performing product concepts. You'll collaborate with engineers, sourcing teams, and leadership to bring innovative therapy-related equipment to life. A strong sense of form, function, and manufacturability is critical.

Responsibilities

• Create and refine CAD and 3D models based on design requirements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to brainstorm and validate product concepts
• Translate technical requirements into functional, aesthetic product designs
• Build and test functional prototypes and iterate as needed
• Research materials, technologies, and industry trends to influence design direction
• Propose improvements in usability, performance, and cost-effectiveness
• Work closely with engineers to ensure feasibility and proper handoff to manufacturing
• Support vendor sourcing and coordination for production
• Modify existing designs based on customer feedback or evolving requirements
• Maintain detailed documentation and adhere to timelines

Job Qualifications and Skills Set

• Hands-on experience with CAD software and 3D modeling tools
• Exceptional attention to detail and understanding of aesthetic design principles
• Strong collaboration and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Passion for user-centric, functional product design
• Willingness to learn sourcing tasks and vendor communication

Preferred

• Background in industrial design
• Experience working with plastics, metal, textiles, or wood fabrication
• Prior experience with manufacturers or factories
• Familiarity with plastic injection molding
• Sourcing or vendor management experience is a major plus
