What a dedicated illustrator does for you

Your illustrator is a full-time employee of Staff Outsourcing Solutions, on-site in our Cebu office and assigned only to your account. They learn your brand, your characters and your house style. Typical work includes:

  • Editorial and book artwork: digital and book illustrations, comics and educational materials.
  • Characters and portraits: character creation, character sheets and portraits for books, brands and games.
  • Product artwork: product illustrations, T-shirt and merchandise designs, and logos.
  • Marketing artwork: posters, campaign visuals, website graphics and the images for your ads and social posts.
  • Technical and medical drawings: diagrams and technical drawings built from the references and source material you supply, checked by your own subject experts.
  • Concept and multimedia art: concept art, storyboards and artwork for games, animation projects and websites.

See our creative services page for the full team, and our graphic design page for layout and brand design work.

How to outsource illustration services with us

  • You choose the role: the styles, the type of work and the hours you need.
  • You pick the person: we send candidate profiles and portfolios, arrange interviews, and you choose.
  • The illustrator works in your tools: your project board, chat and file storage, through accounts you control.
  • We handle the employer side: recruitment, training, payroll, benefits and HR, DOLE-compliant in the Philippines.

From brief to final files

1. Brief. You share what the piece is for, the size, the deadline, your references and your brand guidelines. 2. Sketches. Your illustrator sends rough sketches or thumbnails so you can choose a direction before any detailed work starts. 3. Rounds of revision. You give feedback on each round. Because you pay a monthly rate, the number of rounds is set by your process, not by a quote. 4. Final files in your formats. Finished artwork arrives in the formats you ask for, such as layered working files, vector files, print-ready PDFs with your bleed and color settings, or web-ready images.

Deadlines are agreed in the brief, and a team lead on the same shift reviews the work.

Tools your illustrator uses

Illustrators work in the software your projects need, such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CorelDRAW and Procreate. Tell us your tools and file standards during scoping, and we match the hire to them.

Who owns the artwork, and how it stays confidential

Artwork your illustrator makes for your account is work made for you under your contract with us, and that contract sets out the ownership and handover of the files. Your illustrator saves working files and finals to your storage, so the source files sit with you. Fonts and stock images carry their own licenses, so buy them under your account. Have your own legal adviser review the contract terms; this page is not legal advice.

Unreleased products, book art before publication and campaign work stay private. NDA agreements, secure devices, access controls and confidentiality obligations apply to every account. Your illustrator works on-site in our office, and you set their access in your own systems.

How to review an illustrator's portfolio before you hire

The artwork our illustrators make for clients is made for those clients and often confidential, so we do not show it. Every candidate brings their own portfolio of personal and past work they are free to share. When you review one:

  • Look for your style. Work close to the look you need, and range if you need more than one style.
  • Look for consistency. A series of related pieces, such as one character in several poses, shows the illustrator can hold a style over time.
  • Ask about process. In the interview, ask the candidate to walk you through one piece from brief to final, including the sketches and the changes along the way.
  • Check the files. Ask what formats the candidate delivers and how they organize layered files.

Every candidate also passes our hiring checks, set out on our thorough employee vetting page.

What does it cost to outsource illustration?

A dedicated illustrator starts from $1,500 a month, all-in: salary, benefits, workstation, facility, supervision and HR. You get steady monthly capacity in place of per-project freelance rates, and the illustrator who learned your style stays on your account.

Our founder runs his own companies on the same math. A managed team member in our Cebu office costs about a quarter of the fully loaded cost of the same US hire and, with our management on the floor, gets about twice as much done: twice as productive at a quarter of the cost. On the salary line alone, clients typically save 53 to 70 percent.

Why Staff Outsourcing Solutions

We have built and run dedicated teams for US companies since 2010: 15 years from one facility in Cebu Business Park. The company is SEC-registered and DOLE-compliant in the Philippines, with a US office in Nixa, Missouri. Thousands of employees and a 1,000-seat capacity mean your illustrator can sit beside the content writers and social media staff your campaigns also need.

From $1,500 a month per dedicated illustrator, all-in: salary, benefits, workstation, facility, supervision and HR. On the salary line alone, clients typically save 53 to 70 percent against a comparable US hire.

You pay for the illustrator's time each month, not per piece, so revision rounds follow your own review process.

Artwork made for your account is work made for you under your contract with us, which sets out ownership and file handover. Ask your own legal adviser to review the terms.

We do not show client artwork, since it is made for our clients and often confidential. Each candidate brings their own portfolio, and you review it and interview the candidate before you decide.

A short consultation on the artwork, styles and volume you need. We then send candidate profiles and portfolios, arrange interviews and handle onboarding.
